With so many espresso machines on the market today, we strongly suggest that you follow the instructions included with your machine.
General Espresso Tips
- Use only fresh coffee
- Use clean machinery
- Fill the portafilter with 7-9 grams / ¼ oz. (single), 14-18 grams / ½ oz. (double) of fresh fine ground coffee.
- Tamp the coffee evenly at 25-35 lbs pressure
- A 1.5 oz Espresso shot should take approximately 25 seconds to extract. If your extraction time is higher or if the crema pours very slowly from the portafilter try a larger grind. If the extraction time is too fast or the crema gushes from the portafilter, try a finer grind.
